Black Friday Tips & Tricks - Part 1 of 2

Year after year, sales on Black Friday increase compared to the previous years, and that dollar amount is typically measured by the billions. The year 2020 is bound to be another big year for businesses nationwide.

We are here to help provide you and your small business the branding and design tips you need to be successful during this years Black Friday!

Tip #1: Focus efforts online

By now, everyone is well aware that online shopping is becoming more and more popular among consumers. This year will be no different. In fact, it is expected that the majority of Black Friday shopping will occur online this year due to the nationwide pandemic related to the coronavirus.

Focus the majority of your efforts online this year, whether that's giving your website a limited-time make over, or creating unique Black Friday ads to run on social media.

Tip #2: Create a mystery box or mystery sale

A mystery box is an extremely unique and exciting way to create hype around you brand. If your business sells products that make sense for a mystery box, we highly encourage trying to create a limited-time mystery box with a few of your customers' favorite products inside. This mystery box could then be promoted during and sold Black Friday, focusing heavily on the FOMO (fear of missing out) aspect.

If your business sells services or is unable to logically make a mystery box, create a mystery sale that will be revealed at some point during Black Friday. To promote this mystery sale, you can create content that "teases" what products will be on sale, or what type of sale it will be (e.g. 2 for the price of 1, 50% off, etc.).

Tip #3: Host a new deal every hour

Hosting a new deal every hour is extremely effective, as it keeps you customers engaged and continuously focusing on your brand to see what deals are available. Make sure to plan out each deal and release them on a timely schedule, and be sure that the deals are worthwhile to your customers. If the deals are too weak or small, customers will focus on what other brands are offering. Just remember: one great deal is better than 10 bad ones.

It's Black Friday after all! Put your best foot forward!

Tip #4: Plan out your entire Black Friday campaign using a marketing calendar

This one may seem obvious, but without a clear and organized plan, your small business may forget or miss a few key factors that make your Black Friday sale work. Make sure to include in all the promotions that will run before the day of Black Friday, any backend functions that need to taken care off (such as creating a discount code), and any special requirements to make Black Friday run smoothly.

Big Friday is such a major and important holiday for so many small businesses. Make sure your business capitalizes this year by reading part 2 of this blog series!
